Joseph Fournier est né en 1790.
Maître-maçon de métier, Fournier est employé par l'entrepreneur en construction Charles-Simon Delorme en 1816 afin d'ériger deux maisons contigües à Montréal. En 1819, il s'associe avec son employeur. De 1823 à 1826, il participe vraisemblablement à la construction de l'église Saint-Jacques le Majeur.
Il est décédé en 1832.
