Synthèse
Né à Sandwich (Windsor, Ontario), le 13 avril 1812, William Lewis Baby est le fils de James Baby, inspecteur général du Haut-Canada.
Durant les Rébellions de 1837-1838, Baby occupe le poste de lieutenant des Kent Volunteers. Il participe, en janvier 1838, à la capture de la goélette Ann, à Amherstburg.
Baby fait carrière dans la fonction publique. En 1873, il entre au département des Frontières (Her Majesty's Customs), à Windsor, et y travaille jusqu'en 1895.
Il a publié Souvenirs of the Past (1896).
Il est décédé à Windsor, le 9 décembre 1897. Il est inhumé dans le cimetière de l'église de Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, à Windsor.
Il avait épousé, en 1861, Maria Donnelly, fille d'Edmund B. Donnelly.
