Fabien-René-Édouard Campeau est né en 1844.
Campeau est un fonctionnaire fédéral. Il est le fondateur de la Société de secours mutuels des Franco-Canadiens et est décoré de l'Ordre du Saint-Sépulcre.
Il a publié Illustrated Guide to the House of Commons and Senate of Canada, en trois volumes (1875, 1879 et 1885), dont le premier est aussi publié en français sous le titre de Guide illustré de la Chambre des communes du Canada (1875), et Catalogue of Canadian Coins, Medals, Tokens and Stamps (1890).
Il est décédé en 1916.
